Gratitude Food

April 17, 2014 · In: LIFESTYLE, Uncategorized

I’ll go deeper into the survey tomorrow but very briefly, there was a request for more personal/lifestyle posts and maybe NOT so many baby or food type posts. Well…awkwardly enough, yesterday and today it’s kind of babies and food for posts! Doh! I’ve angled them more toward the personal/lifestyle category though. Cool?

A great way to show people I care? I make them something!
Thank you flag

Chris’ office threw us a baby shower yesterday. I was really surprised! He’s quite new there and I’ve never even met any one there. They only know me by some baked goods I’ve sent in with Chris.

I decided to try out these chocolate covered, easy oreo pops as favors and this super decadent, better than sex with Robert Redford kind of chocolate cake. Ok, my mother-in-law’s old neighbor had a cake with that name. I can borrow.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Chocolate covered oreosThe pops were actually quite simple, just a little time consuming. They turned out so professional looking without a lot of fancy techniques! Plus the candy melts were on sale at Michaels this week. Chris’ coworkers thought I bought these! YAY!

Here I used 1 bag of white chocolate melts and 1 bag of blue. It was enough to cover a package of double stuffed Oreos (minus a few that were broken in the splitting process (use a butter knife). I used the medium length pop sticks for an elevated look).

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe bundt cake was ridiculous. SUPER RICH. It is actually illegal in 32 states NOT to serve it with ice cream or milk/almond milk. It’s called fudge tunnel cake.

They were so wonderful with the little details, games and incredible gifts! They said it had been years since they could have a baby shower and when they found out a baby was coming, they were so excited! The guys were all sitting in the back (not pictured). What a wonderful welcome to the company!

It’s such a coincidence that you shared this chocolate cake. I have been making it (slightly modified) for a few years. The chocolate sauce is the same, but I do the cake a little differently (shortcut!). Even more of a coincidence…I had a post prepared to share it! I saw the ‘tunnel of fudge cake’ in a magazine a while back and haven’t been able to find the original cake recipe – thanks for linking to it!

No WAY! Cool! Isn’t it funny how that happens? This cake was over the top with richness! For a real chocolate lover! I think my husband fell in love with my flourless chocolate cake a few years ago and this is kind of like that in richness, just more moist. WOAH!

Thank you, Pamela! It’s so wonderful to have the time to do this stuff. I would normally still do it when I worked-just at midnight!! Effort is my love language!

Those Oreo cake pops look so good and easy! I might make some in the bear future to thank myself for my sheer awesomeness! It’s so wonderful Chris’ coworkers had a shower for you. They sound like very good people to work with. We have an office baby shore coming up next week and seeing this makes me super excited for it!

Oh, Krista, I felt like a total professional bringing those things in and they were so easy! I would totally do these again! That’s so cool that your office throws showers too! I was so honored. I’ll be doubling up on the amount of baked goods I send in with Chris now! 😉

It looked so bad but wasn’t sure if it was just cosmetic thing or something I should get checked out for my health.

I was avoiding it and “waiting until I had time” to deal with it as a mom of 4.

I finally made time and l’m so glad I did.

This was the start of my health journey at 45.

Have you considered a “pattern interrupt” element Have you considered a “pattern interrupt” element to design your space and make it stand out?

A design element that just doesn’t make total sense but adds the zest to the room that just makes it?

You’re an emotional decorator! You’re someone who walks into a room and knows she loves it but can’t explain why.

When was I going to bounce back like that?

Everyone was being vulnerable so when it was my turn I said, “I still can’t fit into my old jeans.”

One of the moms looked at me and said, “I just bought new jeans.”

I was shocked! She looked amazing!

I thought that if I bought jeans for my current “larger size” as in “not my ideal size,” it would mean I was settling for my current state that I didn’t want.

Then it hit me.

When you see yourself as worthy and do things that make you feel great-like new clothes that fit, your mind does something you’re not even aware of.

when your brain says, “I look cute” then you’re just going to continue to look better on a subconscious level.

Why?

Your self image improves and when it does, you do things in alignment with a good self image like eating better or moving more or learning how to do your hair at its best!
