Hopefully you had a very fun and safe time last night! We had a late dinner with couples at a hotel in Pasadena last night. Six course dinners are perfect for pregnant women! Today is sleeping and eating. Any interesting resolutions?? I’m putting fun things on my to-do list and thinking of some more today.
In my family, it was customary to eat certain foods on New Year’s day. We would have these gummy white rice cakes that were fried and dipped in sugar. There were lots of healthy things too, I just remember the sweet stuff. We would also wear new underwear and clothes. Everything said would be very foretelling of the year to come so we were careful with our words and the same went for any actions. Example: If we slept in late, it would be a year of sleeping in late. This is probably why I ate too much sugar all my life. We would bow in respect to our parents and receive little envelopes of money. Even now, my mom will give me an envelope to take home at Christmas if I won’t be with them over New Years.
Well, according to today, it may be a year of pajamas, soup and salad. I love it.

Happy new year!! Whoa! 6 course meal? That sounds amazing, and yes, totally perfect for a pregnant woman 🙂 Also, I grew up with Japanese traditions on New Years day, and we ate a ton of mochi! Have you heard of kinako? My uncle would always deliver hand-made mochi and on new years morning, we have a mochi soup and eat the mochi with a kinako/sugar mix. SO GOOD. Anyway, happy new year to you, may it be amazing!!!
