A Mother’s Love

May 12, 2014 · In: BABY, Uncategorized

Mother's Day OP CafeMother's Day OP Cafe-2Mother's Day OP Cafe-3Mother's Day OP Cafe-4Mother's Day OP Cafe-12Mother's Day OP Cafe-6I hope you had a wonderful weekend and Mother’s Day. I am far from mine but luckily, my sweet little sister lives close to home and was able to spend time with my mom yesterday.

Chris took me out to breakfast at the OP Cafe. We took some photos while waiting for a table inside.

I totally ordered this crazy special: a waffle with nutella, mascarpone, strawberries, crumbled wafers and almond paste. It was ridiculous. I ate ALL of it as well as the bacon and eggs it came with.  INCREDIBLE! P.S. I didn’t have to eat again until 7 p.m.

The hostess was wearing this awesome outfit and I had to take a photo of it. Do you know how happy I am when people let me take photos of them? She said her fiancé HATES the boots and she said he’d just have to buy her new ones then.

A couple people were wishing me a Happy Mother’s Day and it was totally sweet AND weird!

Here’s a photo of my mom and I on the day she became a U.S. citizen. Going out to breakfast is the best. My mom is such an incredibly brave person. She and my father were living in Seoul, Korea when she was pregnant with me. She flew to the U.S. months before her due date and lived with her in-laws (my grandparents) so that I could be a naturalized American citizen. She had me by cesarian and flew me back to Korea.

On a sillier note, here’s when a Korean mom says, “I love you.” Here’s the best Christmas gift she’s ever given me.

I’m so grateful for her sacrifices, sense of humor, enduringly positive attitude and foresight. I look forward to passing on that legacy of selfless love.

I’m happy to see you had such a lovely Mother’s Day!! That breakfast looks delightful, I would eat the whole thing too! How fun that the hostess let you take her picture. I love her outfit and glasses- that kind of boho style is my fave. Your mama sounds like an amazing lady… and I’m sure you’re going to be a wonderful mama too!! xoxo

Oh, girl, that breakfast never had a chance. I gave like ONE bite to Chris and then he had to watch his fingers. I totally love the boho style but rarely try it on myself. I’d love to be in a Free People ad-kind of look someday! Thank you, Abby! I love how you and your mom are so close! HOME SHOPPING NETWORK! 😉

Thank you, Meg! I still feel guilty that I have never wanted to run for public office…the whole opportunity to be the president thing for being born in the US! HA! I think my mom’s just happy that I’m happy..or else. 🙂

LOVE this post and that breakfast place! The old-school decor and colors are just beautiful! I’m halfway through pregnancy but a lot of people can’t even tell, so I didn’t get any Mother’s Day greetings from random people while I was out… however, received texts from friends which was sweet 🙂

Oh we just love a charming breakfast joint! This one is just so darn cute. You know, it wasn’t until week 21 when someone said, “Congratulations,” to me and the person was not American! We were on a Caribbean Cruise in port. A couple of weeks after that though, it was no longer a secret to anyone! It’s so interesting how we all carry so differently! Seriously, I get the most comments from men! So strange to me. 🙂 That’s sweet that your friends have put you on the Happy Mother’s Day list!!! Yay!!! Pretty cool, huh?

Yes, it’s definitely a cool feeling! The funny part is, I used to weigh a little more and I tend to carry weight in my boobs/hips/thighs, so a couple years ago I got “when are you due?” comments from strangers. Now, I’m actually pregnant and haven’t gotten anything so far. Hilarious!

You are the cutest pregnant mama ever!! And those waffles look amazing… Okay, I’m drooling.

I remember when my mom got her US citizenship we all went out to dinner to celebrate too! Only I was in high school and had no idea why she made such a big deal out of it but I guess I take it for advantage that I was lucky enough to be born an American without having to go through all the hoops to become a citizen.

This is for my overachievers!

Once I realized what was going on underneath all of the over planning and prevention, I found a way to relax more.

Comment read and I’ll send it to you.
I had to believe that no matter what I was looking I had to believe that no matter what I was looking at in front of me (a dusty ranch style house that looked like an abandoned outpost), this could be my dream house.

I kept reassuring myself that it could happen even though I had no idea how that would be possible unless I completely rebuilt the house.

Then I let it just sort of appear as I kept staring at the house.

Staring as a big part of having the vision come to you.

It took many years, but I’m very excited to come down the driveway each day.

paint and lime wash were absolutely transformational for the exterior renovation.

As we play around the house, or drink coffee outside, I look at the house fondly and appreciate the beauty and how it serves us.

Changing your beliefs we’ll set off a chain reaction for beautiful things to come.

I decided it was time to focus on my health so I started exercising and by week 3 I was quitting-this is from someone who used to be in the military and loves fitness.

Being a mom is different!

I decided to start with mindset. I did a specific technique and weight loss started and just got easier.

Being healthy became automatic.

I didn’t need more hours in the day and it wasn’t another job to add to my list.
I started this window treatment transformation yea I started this window treatment transformation years ago and I’ve been avoiding this part ever since.

I finally ordered this curtain rod from the same company in a different size, but the color ended up being the wrong “gold/brass” tone.

Then I ordered these curtains and the color is not at all how I expected. I was thinking fresh spring and these have a dustier tone. Gorgeous just not the same vibe I had imagined.

It’s taking imperfect action that gives you clarity.

I could scroll until the cows came home but I just had to start with something physical I could look at and decide if it was a go or not.

Tell me what you think in the comments! I’llsend you all the details of this project.
This summer I took a break from keeping up with my This summer I took a break from keeping up with my own high expectations and then a newsletter that I write in the margins of my life ended up on a list with authors I’ve admired for years.

Coincidence?

“Top 100 Rising in Faith and Spirituality,” on Substack.
For a hot second I was a list with the author of Eat, Pray, Love! What!

I have to constantly retrain my mind to know that good things happen no matter what. I don’t have to toil to have what I want.

Yes, we have to signal to the world what we want to attract but it doesn’t have to feel like a burden.

We create the reality we experience.

What would you allow yourself to receive if you believed that you were allowed to rest?
