We all have our ways of nesting, creating an environment that is beautiful and comfortable. Since we have decided to remain California residents, I’m allowing myself to invest in plants. I’ve killed a lot of them in my life and I’m finally in a place to really learn how to keep them…alive. Chris said our place is going to start looking like a jungle…but that it’s ok.
So THIS is my new place for inspiration: Rolling Greens Nursery. I went there this week for some new houseplants. They have incredible displays. The cool plant “trends” can be found here. Sometimes I’ll go to a place like this for ideas and then execute them for a more reasonable price at Home Depot.
There are 3 levels and a lot of parts look like artifact sites from a dig.
Here is a view onto the second level.
I’ll post some pics of the plants at our home once they’re potted! What’s your latest decor desire and how’s your green thumb?
I have always LOVED the feel of a home with plants and nowadays it’s becoming more stylish.

Oh goodness, I kill every plant I get. The last plant we had was in a little planter on our balcony, and when it finally sprouted a flower, a bird came and ate it. I almost cried. HOWEVER, I do love plants and think you should totally get some for your home! It’s healthy to have plants around.

This story is hilarious….and very sad! 🙂 I’m really into plants here b/c of the air quality in LA too! 🙂

I loooove planting flowers and other plants but I always seem to kill them off…I need to work on that haha.
Christina Warren says
Oh I know!!! It is taking all the patience in me to care for the plants I have now. I get anxious when I see a brown leaf…should I be watering now…is there enough light… You know with only 2 or 3 things to have to consider in raising a plant, it’s still quite baffling to me!

I’m still at the stage where any plants I try to keep indoors die. I’ll try again later.
Christina Warren says
Oh, Becca! I look both ways as I’m buying a plant wondering if they’re going to let me do it b/c I’ve offed so many! 🙂 I now have a plant guru who tells me how to do things! So far so good!!

pretty plants! i’m finally over a 50% rate of keeping plants alive so I would say that’s a success. But for some reason, my orchids always die. I’ve been doing more succulents lately and they’re a little harder for me to kill 🙂 excited to see your plants!
Christina Warren says
50% is incredible, Jackie. You know, in San Diego a friend of mine would send her orchids to the “orchid sitter” after they were done blooming. The center would call her to pick them up once they were blooming again! Voila! That is just a bit too fancy for me…someday! lol
jackie jade says
my mom has given me 5 orchids and I’ve killed them all, some more slowly than others. I’ve given a few back to her and she has brought them back to life somehow. she should get a side job as an “orchid sitter”!
Christina Warren says
Your mom is more than an Orichd Sitter..she is the ORCHID WHISPERER! LOL

I LOVE plants in the home. I don’t have a yard or a porch though so my options are limited. I’m sooo looking forward to updates once you’ve brought the jungle inside! That place looks like so much fun. Makes me want to discover nurseries in my area.
Christina Warren says
Thien! That is the most wonderful thing to hear: that you’re inspired by the post! I will get some photos of my micro jungle up here soon! Thank you!

Girl I murder EVERYTHING green. It’s not even funny – I would LOVE to keep a plant alive. So far the only two that have survived me are these two purple plants that survived two freezes and ZERO water for like a month …with the exception of what they got from the rain.
*sigh*
It’s a good thing I married a landscaper LOL
Christina Warren says
YOU are a genius! I want to know the names of those purple magic plants! I am so determined. I DID stop buying things like the delicate and gorgeous maiden hair ferns (the stuff they have in pots at like Anthropologie) and now it’s just hardy stuff. That was a start! You are so lucky to be with a landscaper! I wish I could see your yard! 🙂

I don’t have a green thumb. In fact, it’s not even a brown thumb, but a black thumb! I kill absolute every plan that we buy! It’s become quite the problem. Every year in April I do a 5k and the swag is a round tree. And very year like clockwork it’s dead by August. Maybe I should start looking in to cacti…I hear they can live through anything.
Christina Warren says
LOL I have lived in the black thumb land for most of my life!!! I love that you do a swag! Cacti…I’ve killed those too. Lately I have an alarm on my phone that goes off every Monday morning to water the plants!
