Eating More Fat At Home Resolution

January 6, 2014 · In: LIFESTYLE

Hamburger and Fries

So, this could be the pregnant woman talking but I’ve declared a “fat-zone” in my kitchen recently. Normally I cook VERY healthy meals at home and when we get the urge to eat something “bad,” we go out. Over the holiday, it seemed that we wanted something “bad” a lot. So in the spirit of saving more money this year as well as our waistlines, I’m going to be incorporating a few fat-tastic meals during the week.

***Let’s get real. I see you at the Whole Foods salad bar making that raw vegan bowl of greens, sans-dressing. I know you go home and inhale a gluten-free, dairy-free ice-cream-donut sandwich every once in a while. Yeah, me too.

I figure that making this stuff at home can’t be nearly as calorie-horrific as any restaurant. This is mainly because my butter knife hand has an automatic cut-off point. I physically CAN’T kill us with lard (except on holidays or when having guests over). It’s not in my DNA-possibly because I’m half Asian and my mother most likely did not eat anything like butter or refined sugar until her late twenties when she was living in the U.S.

I hardly ever bought milk, cheese or cheese-like thing (i.e.cream cheese)…until I become pregnant. I want dairy like a newly skinny girl wants miniskirts.

So I will buy some cheese, red meat and ice cream so I stop spending 4 times as much for it at restaurants. I’ll tell you how it goes…well, just look at my photos (or lack there of) to see how I’m “wearing” the new plan. I’m also one of those Paris-Hilton-esque weirdoes who if I have tons of food or “bad” things around, I have less of a hankering for them. That is the opposite of a roommate I once had to told me we HAD to hide all of our junk food in a basket, on a shelf that required a ladder to reach it (I gained weight while said basket was out of reach).

What do you think of THAT!? Does it make you feel:

a. Worried about our health

b. Excited about a miracle fat-diet

c. Hungry

d. Like you would rather be watching a Selena Gomez movie

P.S. Stay tuned for a new easy homemade salad dressing recipe this week.

Haha, I’m totally like your old roommate! I need the sweets to be hidden or I devour them!

Love this post, Christina! I’m totally the same way 🙂 If I want something unhealthy, I try to make it myself (while also trying to make it sliiiightly healthier) But sometimes you just can’t help it! I say everything in moderation. I know it’s probably tough as a pregnant woman, but hey, I always say to feed the urge because if I don’t, I end up eating everything else just to find that same satisfaction I would’ve found in what I originally wanted! lol!

One day, I decided to stop letting my circumstances determine the outcomes that I wanted.

Here he was mother to four, barely sleeping at night, feeling Uncomfortable in my body and sluggish.

Dare I say it but I felt old too.

Then I just decided that, even though I was in this stage of life, I was still going to achieve my goals and have a body that I wanted.

I changed who I was on the inside.

I started telling myself that I was vibrant and beautiful and full of energy and life.

All the sudden I started to believe it.

I ate healthier automatically.

I lost over 20 pounds.
