Will You Still Like Me After Knowing This Stuff?

December 9, 2013 · In: TMI, Uncategorized

What a great weekend of friends, fancy meals and football! Karly Kim tagged me for an “11 Random Facts About You,” post. Aye yaye yaye!!! I write about myself through stories so this is a challenge. Please humor me by adding something revealing about yourself in the comments!

1. I once vacuumed my sister (as a “joke”) and she is to-this-day slightly afraid of vacuums. I am forever guilty. I am also sensitive to people with vacuum phobias.

2. I only wash my hair a few times a week. It is super dry!

3. Once I watched Home Alone in Spanish just because it was on and that’s such a great holiday movie.

4. Speaking of movies, some favorites (not limited to) are Night at the Roxbury, The English Patient, Atonement, Elf and Big Momma’s House. Big Momma’s house brings me to tears every time.

5. My parents just told me that if I was going to be born a boy, I would have been named Christopher. How crazy, my husband and I would have had the EXACT same name!

6. I sneak a spoonful of Bonne Maman (the red gingham jar top) blueberry jam from time to time. It has real little baby blueberries. Total fan of mixed textures.

7. Once filling up my entire girl scout sash with merit badges, I demanded that my mother remove the sewn on badges and reattach them more tightly to make room for more badges. She obliged. No wonder a friend once nicknamed me Napoleon.

8. I need a redemption fact so…in grade school, the principal called me into her office and asked me to befriend a new girl at school who was having a hard time fitting in. We became great friends and she starting smiling. Her name was June. I adored her. Does that even out Napoleon? Probably not. OK.

9. I have severe trust issues with manicurists. I am convinced I can do a more intensely perfect job. That doesn’t mean that I have perfectly done nails all the time by yours truly. It means that once every couple of months, I come home from a manicure going, “I could have done better than that.” Then I finally find that one manicurist who is better than me. Then I move out of that city for other reasons unrelated.

10. I have 2 piles of books by my bed at all times. I am reading 7 out of 10 of these books at a time (2 pages at a time or so). When I pass by them every morning, I look at the piles with a hunger and longing. Then I head into the bathroom and start the day.

11. I get a big kick out of pointing out celebrities (to those I’m with) when I spot them. I saw “Zoe” from House of Cards yesterday at the football game. Kewl.

Hopefully, I’m not coming across as a total jerk from this post! Ok, share with me and lift the shame!

One time I told my dad I would snip off all the little hangin thready from his brand new shirt and after detailing for an hour, I cut the actual shirt by accident!

I once completely melted a set of Pottery Barn sofa covers because I was trying to get them perfectly white again in a postpartum haze.

This past year I’ve found incredible inspiration from imperfect people who I look up to.

One day, I decided to stop letting my circumstances determine the outcomes that I wanted.

Here he was mother to four, barely sleeping at night, feeling Uncomfortable in my body and sluggish.

Dare I say it but I felt old too.

Then I just decided that, even though I was in this stage of life, I was still going to achieve my goals and have a body that I wanted.

I changed who I was on the inside.

I started telling myself that I was vibrant and beautiful and full of energy and life.

All the sudden I started to believe it.

I ate healthier automatically.

I lost over 20 pounds.
