People Who Play M.A.S.H. Get What They Want

May 15, 2013 · In: MONEY, ROMANCE, Uncategorized

IMG_2548

Did you play M.A.S.H. (stands for mansion, apartment, shack, house) as a kid?  It was that game where you had lists of: who you were going to marry, what kind of house you were going to live in, how many kids etc.  You would do the “eenie meenie minie moe” thing, crossing them off, one by one, until squealing at the remaining item.  Which categories were you most interested in?  When I was a kid it was the career part and the car part.

Job

1.  Astronaut

2.  Doctor

3.  Race Car Driver

4.  Garbage Collecter (the RULES said you had to put at least ONE red herring that usually ended up getting chosen by your BFF who was playing with you….he/she would know your biggest nightmare)

Cars
1.  Minnie Van

2. White Sports Car

3. Black Sports Car

4.  Red Sports Car

So I joined the military and went to flight school driving a red Mitsubishi Eclipse.  Voila!

While I was heading off to meet E.T. in the space shuttle, there were some girls (and my friend Ken) who would take the time to really tease out and subdivide the wedding section…..Wedding Dress, Wedding Dress Color, Wedding Dress Length, Venue, Number of Guests… ?  I hope they had the biggest, frilliest, People-magazine worthy spreads because that’s what they wanted.

As part of what people now call “The Law of Attraction” I was playing M.A.S.H. all my life…in my head anyway.  Recently, the career section says “writer” but some other are:

Car

1.  Luxury Mini Van

2.  Luxury SUV

3.  Luxury Large Sedan

4.  Mazda Miata

Baby Closet

Totally organized by color

Totally alphabetized

Totally organized by size and type

Total mess

Barf!  I know.  Especially the total mess part because that is giving me heart palpitations right now.

OK, basically, figure out what you want.  It is going to be different at each stage of your life but figure it out so you can make it happen.  Make lists, make Pinterest Boards and literally write things down.  Stop beating yourself up for wanting:

1.  Something you think you don’t deserve

2.  Something that you think can never happen  (Go ahead, put Justin Beiber on there, he’s gotta get married ONE of these days.  It could be to you.)

3.  Something you want just because you THINK you can have it.  (Thank you, Sara Murre)

BE HONEST

THINK BIG

LOVE IT

Now, omit the “red herring.”  The red herring here is an example of what you’re afraid of happening.  Redirect the energy you have toward the fears you have or the worst thing that could happen and put them toward the positive things you want.

Keep looking at it.  Daydream about it.  Find other people who want things like it.  If you encounter resistance, seek out new avenues.  Help other people make their M.A.S.H. dreams come true and PLEASE tell me about it!

One day, I decided to stop letting my circumstances determine the outcomes that I wanted.

Here he was mother to four, barely sleeping at night, feeling Uncomfortable in my body and sluggish.

Dare I say it but I felt old too.

Then I just decided that, even though I was in this stage of life, I was still going to achieve my goals and have a body that I wanted.

I changed who I was on the inside.

I started telling myself that I was vibrant and beautiful and full of energy and life.

All the sudden I started to believe it.

I ate healthier automatically.

I lost over 20 pounds.
