Large art is EXPENSIVE so I made this diy wall art and I’m so excited to share it with you! I wanted something beautiful that would finish the space, felt high end and didn’t break the bank.
I had been searching for months, everywhere from Homegoods to high end artists. I couldn’t find something that fit my budget and style. I saw beautiful pieces for over $2000 or large enough pieces that looked cheap. Then I saw some giant canvases and decided to try it myself! Let’s do this!!
My husband picked up this giant $100 Canvas for me. I used plain white acrylic paint and I built the frame with $10 worth of poplar wood from Home Depot! I’ll have a frame post soon (quick video here)!
The painting is super subtle and ultra relaxing. I created the “cloud like” look by painting on some white acrylic paint in horizontal stripes and then using an old wet t-shirt to rub it in.
Put some music on, have your family or friends add some paint and get swirling. Work on small parts at a time and then step back for an overall take.
You can add in a little color to compliment your space. I like taupes and grays. Start with a tiny bit of color and work your way up. Some of my favorites colors are taupe, cream, ivory and olive greens. Mix a dot of color with a ton of white paint to get that soft look.

This DIY wall art is something anyone can do! I hope you create your own!
