What I use to Clean my Whole House!

February 15, 2021 · In: Wellness, Wellness Slider

💫 Before you read: Don’t forget to grab your free natural cleaning recipe card printable at the bottom of this post.

For decades I used vinegar and water to clean everything because I knew it was natural and effective but my home was missing that good fresh smell that I longed for after all the cleaning! I really wanted an effective, easy, natural cleaner that also smelled good! Then I was introduced to Thieves.

I was skeptical of all the hype but it arrived in the mail and I understood the overwhelming fandom. That was 7 years ago. I’ve helped thousands of people swap out harsh chemicals in their homes since then.

Cleaning with Thieves products in our home is a stress reliever and energy saver. I can clean knowing that I’m not dousing the house in harsh chemicals and fake, hormone disrupting fake fragrances.

It’s super easy to use, smells like Christmas and you’ll never go back.

In this post I’m going to show you how to use Thieves products to clean your home plus some super simple, economical and effective cleaning recipes you can make up really quickly.

If you’ve been watching me clean our home on Instagram and you’re ready to order now – the easiest way (and best value) to get started in swapping out harsh chemicals in your home cleaning supplies is by getting a bundle.

The Make a Shift Happy Healthy Home Bundle is the easy button and you can use my code SHAREYL at checkout for 10% off. I also send you my personal labels and recipe cards.

Choice of One Time Order or Loyalty (choose this to earn points on your subscription-cancel any time) and I also send you a free gift diffuser when you use my link.

How cute is the new packaging!?

If you are new here and want to learn more or you have your bundle and you’re ready to start making the most of it, keep reading…

I'M READY TO SHOP THE BUNDLE

If you’re here to order a single bottle of the Thieves Concentrate:

This is a super low commitment ($24 wholesale/$32 retail) and economical way to try out Thieves. One bottle of the concentrate makes over 40 bottles of all purpose cleaner.

Pour one capful of concentrate into a 16oz spray bottle of water. THAT’S IT! when you run out, refill in minutes. I see my husband doing it all the time and I have to say how happy this makes me. HA!

When you use my link, I send you my custom labels and recipe cards. At checkout, my number 18849810 should be automatically in the referral number area when you use my link. Otherwise you can fill it in so I get your info to send you recipe cards and labels.

SHOP THIEVES CONCENTRATE

What is Thieves?

Thieves is a blend of essential oils: Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Clove, Lemon and Cinnamon. Essential Oils are the lifeblood of a plant. This specific blend originated in France during 15th Century Bubonic Plague. It is said that grave robbers or “thieves” would cover their faces with clothes soaked in this blend and rob the graves of the plague victims. They were not getting sick!

Thieves cleaning products contain this blend of Young Living Essential oils. From household cleaner and laundry soap to dish soap and more! Young Living has a Seed to Seal process that ensures the highest quality of oils you can buy.

I’ve had the opportunity to visit the Mona Farm and see first hand the level of care and quality this family owned business lives by.

Why we Use Thieves

We have a family of six and spend a lot of our time at home! Our kids end up eating fallen food on the floor etc and we do not want harsh chemicals finding their way into their bodies! The strong smells of some other household cleaners have made me gag and we want to create the best environment we can for our family.

What we put in on and around our bodies makes an impact on our wellbeing.

I use Young Living Thieves products because they are natural, plant based cleaners I feel good about using all around our home. No artificial fragrances or harsh chemicals. It’s budget friendly because of how concentrated it is.

How to use Thieves

Thieves All Purpose Household Cleaner

  • One capful Thieves Household Cleaner Concentrate
  • Water (I use filtered water because our house tap is softened with salt. I used tap water in our previous house)

Fill a 16 oz glass spray bottle with water almost to the top and add one capful of the Thieves Household Cleaner Concentrate.

SIMPLE SWAPS

Simplify the way you clean and shop! We now have fewer products under the sink.  Each one is natural and arrives at our door every month. You can choose the optional rewards program: Loyalty Rewards. Convenient and we earn points back on our purchases to spend on more essentials or splurges.

AKA order what you want each month and then use the points you earn to buy more essentials (more Thieves) or splurges (a fancy new oil scent to replace toxic candles).

Thieves Soft Scrub

  • 1/4 Cup Thieves Household Cleaner Concentrate
  • 1 Cup Baking Soda
  • 10 Drops Young Living Lemon Essential Oil

Mix ingredients together and store in an airtight container.

Great for sinks and tubs. Anywhere you want scrubbing power without scratching the surface. Always test in a small area first.

For your plants

Spray on plants to keep yuckies and support growth! I use the general purpose ratio of one cap per 16 oz bottle of water.

Laundry Boost

  • one capful of Thieves household cleaner and
  • 5 drops of YL Purification oil

Add to Thieves laundry soap to wash extra soiled laundry.

Thieves Stain Stick

  • 1/2 Thieves Household Cleaner Concentrate
  • 1/2 Thieves Dish Soap
Make in a 30ml roller for easy application. Roll onto stains and scrub if necessary. Launder with Thieves Laundry Soap.

PS We have a LOT of stains so I make ours up in a spray bottle. Just half Thieves Household Cleaner Concentrate and half Thieves Dish Soap. It is awesome.

Comment the word WOOD for everything you need to k Comment the word WOOD for everything you need to know to make choosing wood floors simple.

I make it easy and answer things like “what direction do I lay them?”

I was pregnant when we were renovating this home and I make different kinds of decisions when I’m pregnant. Anyone else?

I started thinking I wanted tile-wood-look flooring or fake wood because I saw all these Texas homes that did not use wood.

There must be a reason?

Was it the weather? The cost bc the homes are big? Pets? I thought I’d be responsible and choose something hardy…

Except I only like wood!

It’s really a personal preference and a lifestyle thing.
I LOVE natural materials and there is nothing like wood flooring to make a home feel cozy and expensive.

Almost 7 years later and we are still in love with these.
The feeling of your home is so powerful in creating the movie in your mind of what a dream life really is.

Renovations can feel overwhelming. It’s all about prioritizing what’s important to you and knowing what you love.

The high kitchen shelf from Nancy Meyers’ “It’s Co The high kitchen shelf from Nancy Meyers’ “It’s Complicated” kitchen was living rent free in my brain.

I’ve lived so so many places as a kid and adult. Whenever I move into a place and it feels sterile, I stress!

I need a lived in feeling and this dining room was giving me temporary apartment vibes.

Seriously, decor and design can make ANY space feel like a home. Your home.

I spend a lot of time sanding this. It was actually really therapeutic actually as I was processing the passing of an old friend.

I was also caught grief sanding in my garage wearing what I call my urban YETI uniform when a neighbor dropped by.

I looked like a crazy person (I am). It gave me a laugh.

I love how it turned out. It gives the space an opportunity for decorative objects, and feels like a cozy little roof.

It also turned the blinds into a sort of inset blind vibe that elevates the tone.

I had these outside mounted so they match the rest of the room where some windows require it.

It’s 8 inches deep. That’s the measurement that felt right and it fit my future French soup tureens.

You’ve got to take a chance if you want something incredible. It’s just nails, paint and time. It holds the feeling of your home.

When your home reflects what you feel inside, your experience in life just improves everywhere.

The baby diaper brown paint was stealing my joy! I The baby diaper brown paint was stealing my joy! It felt overwhelming to figure out the style, solutions and repairs this patio needed.

When you’re overwhelmed, it’s just that you’ve got to figure out your priorities.

When Everything feels equally important the list is too long and you feel paralyzed with where to start.

This goes for your day today-unspiral from the overwhelm and focus on the priorities.

When I was ready to stop looking at that terrible color, I got out the paint samples and started imagining the deck all white.

What helped me what visiting a nearby winery that had a similar structure. It was Texas but still had a European vibe and fit into the landscape.

Get out there and soak up some beautiful inspiration.

I made this project my focus for a month and then called the painters and then moved on to the rest of the exterior in chunks. Then it was time to call the painters!

to say I’m obsessed with it would be an understatement.

It brightens this whole room

The green trees on the property just pop against it. The blue of the water looks even more crystal clear.

This big blank wall in the living room made me fee This big blank wall in the living room made me feel like I was living in a box with no personality or charm.

It felt so drab and cold.

Without even measuring, I purchased the sideboard on the spot at @theporch in Round Top and brought it home.

It fit!

I knew it was me because it had neutral tones and a french feel.

It has evolved over the years and it almost feels like a built in part of our home at this point.

The large art was a definite yes. I had seen it for years and it felt so me.

That’s how I know an investment piece is right-it will feel so YOU!

The formula for this vignette:
A base piece of furniture
Large scale art
Picture Light
Frames
Lamps
Piled books
Objects of interest

You can feel even in this small area before and after design that the feeling has changed!

Tiny changes create massive emotional shifts.

Now this space makes me feel comforted, rich in life and rooted.

Comment COLOR and I’ll dm you the exact colors/bra Comment COLOR and I’ll dm you the exact colors/brands that we used to achieve this look.

We lived here for years before tackling the exterior and it was kind of painful.

Every time I’d drive home, I knew I loved my house but geez it was so BROWN!

It felt like an old mission or outpost.

It didn’t feel like me and it kind of dragged me down.

I’m a woman who lives a beautiful life, what’s wrong with my house? ha!

I kept looking at photos of other homes to see what could be achieved here.

although I couldn’t find exact matches, I got inspired and bold.

I knew I was always drawn to white and yellow homes the most so I just started testing.

It was horrifying part way through because there is no going back!

Remember this: You have to see it in your mind first and then it can become a reality. It’s ok if it takes a few steps in the wrong direction, just keep at it and the look will come to life in your mind.

You’ll know when it’s right. Then call the painters!
