Travel “Light”

IMG_9279Processed with VSCOcam with se3 preset Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetI’ve recently been the non-worryring parent while Chris has been the more cautious one. Well, when it comes to visiting other countries, I was secretly a bit apprehensive even though a cruise is like the Disneyland version of traveling. It was a perfect warm up. Of course it went very well! It is extra exhausting doing things with little ones and even more rewarding. I am really proud of us-Grant included. Sometimes I feel like I may hardly leave the house if it weren’t for people inviting me to things.

That saying, “The days are long and the years are short,” is going up in our house one of these days for certain. Do you have any sayings that keep you motivated to live life?

PS I am so much more obessed with Instagram now that I’ve gotten back into square photos. Funny, huh? These pics are from Cozumel and Jamaica from my iPhone.

Oh, Jackie! Thank you! That quote really makes me more present! Travel makes my husband and I normal people! HA! It’s in our blood…and now that we have Grant, we’re doing it even if it kills us..or we kill each other. Ahahahaha.

Thank you, Jessica! I am a big fan of the Caribbean. My favorite may be Grand Turk and St. John. Cruising is a great way to sample the islands or do it inexpensively! Girl, I miss being able to just drive down to Mexico when it was safer!

Thanks, Chelsea! The window selfie was a little trick to get Chris into a photo. He is SO uninterested in social media etc. Opposites attract? 😉

I loved insta-stalking your vacation pictures! I can’t get over how cute Grant is, next time you’re in San Diego just drop him off with Auntie Sam and let me cuddle him all day? Ok. 😉

Thank you, SAM!!! HA! How about I drive down right now! LOL You are so kind! We have been “house hunting” in San Diego (mostly via the internet). Still unsure of where we want to live…just know we are quickly outgrowing our current place!! Happy Monday!!

It looked so bad but wasn’t sure if it was just cosmetic thing or something I should get checked out for my health.

I was avoiding it and “waiting until I had time” to deal with it as a mom of 4.

I finally made time and l’m so glad I did.

This was the start of my health journey at 45.

You can have a home cooked meal on the table in a You can have a home cooked meal on the table in a few minutes without even turning on the stove on a Monday.

This makes our weekdays so much less chaotic, and I don’t feel like a scullery maid-I feel like I have a personal chef!

I get to focus my time and energy on connecting with the kids or taking a moment to rest.

Throw these together really quickly this weekend for a smooth week.

The mini meat loafies are a quick snack, packable lunch item or dinner main.

The turkey taco meat is so quick and you can make so many different dishes with it.

I like to cook my veggies day-of or have some washed and prepped in containers.

Have you considered a “pattern interrupt” element Have you considered a “pattern interrupt” element to design your space and make it stand out?

A design element that just doesn’t make total sense but adds the zest to the room that just makes it?

But why is it so hard to figure out the exact thing that will make your space special?

You’re an emotional decorator! You’re someone who walks into a room and knows she loves it but can’t explain why.

I’m here to help!

Part II of Translating what we love about this space-Nancy Meyers edition!

This iconic kitchen from It’s Complicated, is so funny because Jane is in the works to finally renovate to get her DREAM KITCHEN and we would all love to have this one as it is right now!

Why?

Notice that there are layers of detail from floor to ceiling and even ceiling!

If you want your home decor to feel cozy, there’s nothing like decorating every surface.

Keep it neutral if too much business overwhelms you.
When I spotted this window shelf in the movie, I thought it would be the perfect way to add some interest to our very boxy dining room-my pattern interrupt.

All the moms at the mommy and me meetup looked so All the moms at the mommy and me meetup looked so amazing. I wondered what their secret was.

When was I going to bounce back like that?

Everyone was being vulnerable so when it was my turn I said, “I still can’t fit into my old jeans.”

One of the moms looked at me and said, “I just bought new jeans.”

I was shocked! She looked amazing!

I thought that if I bought jeans for my current “larger size” as in “not my ideal size,” it would mean I was settling for my current state that I didn’t want.

Then it hit me.

When you see yourself as worthy and do things that make you feel great-like new clothes that fit, your mind does something you’re not even aware of.

when your brain says, “I look cute” then you’re just going to continue to look better on a subconscious level.

Why?

Your self image improves and when it does, you do things in alignment with a good self image like eating better or moving more or learning how to do your hair at its best!
