There You Are Ant Face

January 26, 2015 · In: Happiness, Uncategorized

IMG_2087-1 IMG_2093-2Have you heard of the saying, “Wherever you are, there you are?” A very interesting former patient of mine said this to me. You know, as in your happiness is internal and not a product of THIS house or THIS job etc? OK, having a bigger kitchen or less ant invasions may actually make me happier.

Well, how can I be my happiest self now in a windowless kitchen with daily ant attacks, waking to a nearby skunk bomb smell or a baby bedroom that is always 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house?

How can I embrace those moments when I find an ant on my face (surely a hitchhiker from my own home) while at a friend’s house? “EW, Becky, your house is ant infested,” I yell, knowing full well that’s my ant.

First, I can demand $10 per public ant shaming from my husband. Second I get a slightly bigger (previously nonexistant) spending account because of all the money we are saving living in said ant hill. This sounds very financial. Well, I also demanded $$$ for grades as a kid.

P.S. I just found out that this house is built on an ancient Indian burial ground. No. Really. #Poltergeist

Girl, you know it! LOL Ants be crazy. I think I have found some effective methods of combat! HA! At least now I’m in the “joking about it” phase. Before I was in the, “I’m moving to a hotel tonight phase!” HA!

Oh boy…ants. Totally understand how frustrating that experience is!

But, in the frame of “your glass is half full” I do like the concept of embracing your happiness since it is not defined by material goods. But, I constantly have to remind me of this since it’s so easy to fall back on “what’s wrong in life” lately. =)

Totally, Nancy! HI! Oh, I LOVE to make ridiculous fun out of anything that drives me nuts. It was our coping mechanism growing up (my sister is WAAY funnier than me…oh wait, does that mean she was really ticked off…lol). Speaking of material goods….I have my eye on some fancy denim…the last pair of jeans I bought was from Target…maternity ones almost 2 years ago! AHHH. 🙂

I’m totally a believer in making our own happiness. Sounds like you can make some serious $$ from that ant of yours LOL

I had to simplify weight loss because I have so many other things I want to pour my energy into!

You see me doing a million things but I’m actually impatient and lazy. I’m a Taurus who loves to lounge and eat donuts.

I found a way to eat donuts, lose weight and do it with the least effort.

The food is easy. The prep is easy. I don’t even think about it anymore.

I started my journey in the summer and it was the best life upgrade of the year.

All possibilities are equally available at all times.

You have the free will to reach out and touch whichever one you choose

There have been times when I thought gosh how did I get into this situation?

I had to remind myself that I could get myself out of it.

I had to remind myself that I had the power to create the life that I wanted.

I hope there’s something that you want that you’ve decided to experience for yourself.

Not someday or if this or if that.

1. Tying my worthiness to outcomes- at the end of each day I focus on how the day felt, over what got done.

There are days when I am a super DOER and I also have heartburn.

I want less days like that and more days that feel peaceful regardless of the list.

2. Earning rest-If I feel like eating donuts and sleeping on the sofa all Saturday morning, that’s awesome. Don’t need permission and don’t need to apologize-just enjoy.

3. Saying “I should”- That’s a 100% red flag for something I SHOULDN’T do.

That’s a signal that it’s something that someone else says I should be doing-not my inner authority.

4. Needing things to be hard- I say things like “Show me how easy this gets to be,” (and I believe it). The proof presents itself.

5. Needing it to be perfect before sharing-not that I’m sharing the hot mess, just that it can be 80% and ready for the world.

It’s so frustrating to feel like you can’t improve It’s so frustrating to feel like you can’t improve your life. You feel like you need more- money, creativity, luck.

That’s actually not true though.

When I fall into this trap, I do this…

Here’s the trick.

When you ask yourself “why is this so hard” your brain goes to work finding every reason it is.

BUT when you ask “why is this so easy for me?” “Why is it all falling into place?”

Your brain has to find proof of that instead.

Different question. A completely different experience.

Keep asking that question all day! Stop asking “Is it working?” Just do it!

Try it on your house. Your body. Anything you’ve been stuck on and tell me what happens!

Do you use mindset tricks like this?

How many times was I going to send this listing to How many times was I going to send this listing to my friend and my husband, asking if it’s worth a 45 minute drive to go pick this up?

If I waited any longer, it was going to be gone.

But what if that was a sign that it wasn’t for me?

where was my sign from the universe?

I just knew this was going to give our family room the cozy vibe I wanted.

Everything else in the room was new so it needed something to feel warmer, unexpected, collected and personal.

I kept holding the phone up to the couch trying to picture it.

It belonged here.

She was asking $100 and I asked if $80 would be ok. It was deal and we were off on a long trip, deep into the city.

Was this going straight to Goodwill?

She put the cutest note on top and her roommate helped up load it into our truck.

I dumped a bunch of water on it and gave it a good scrub plus some scraping off of candle wax. No problem!

Truly, what’s meant for you will never pass you by.

When you search and shop with that vibe, all the right stuff will arrive in your feed and you’ll get the perfect piece.

No kidding, within a day of DECIDING my coffee table was going to be on Marketplace, it showed up.

If you’re into the power of your vibes creating your whole world, follow @christinajwarren where we cultivate inner peace to create a beautiful life from the inside out.
