Tracey’s Surprise Reunion

August 5, 2013 · In: TMI

My sister, Tracey, has been living and working in Japan for the past 2 years as a freelance English teacher. She moved there with a suitcase, a great attitude and soon secured some time on TV, her own apartment, a classroom teaching job, work visa and had many private Japanese students seeking English language instruction (and her bubbly personality).

Tracey is a total woman of mystery with a hint of the mischievous. She told her excited friends that she was planning on moving back to the states soon but wasn’t sure exactly when. She wanted to surprise them! She arrived in Seattle last week! Two of her BFFs were going to be at the Tommy and The High Pilots concert in Seattle on Friday so she snuck in and surprised them! They totally freaked out.

She tried to “disguise” herself a bit but one of her friends kept saying, “wow that looks like Tracey!” I waited in the car until she was “revealed” because I knew if her friends saw me, the cover would be blown.

The girls were totally freaked out! They LOVED the surprise and Tracey was triumphant in pulling off the prank. The trio has a running prank history-think tin-foiling EVERYTHING in someone’s bedroom or making a birthday cake with toothpaste as the filling-frosting.

Tommy and the High Pilots were super energized and really good! I was in the front and got lots of rocker sweat on me. That was a great show.

This was taken at the start of the show before said sweat began to build. Check out Outta My Head and The Devil to Pay. El Corazon was a really cool venue. It was all ages and had lots of rules-like drinking drinks (even water) in the small designated “bar” area. #feelold

Have you every pulled off a big surprise? I think Chris is due for another prank…

Comment READ and I’ll tell you where this motherho Comment READ and I’ll tell you where this motherhood stress comes from and what I’m doing that’s made me so much happier.

This is for my overachievers!

Once I realized what was going on underneath all of the over planning and prevention, I found a way to relax more.

Comment read and I’ll send it to you.
I had to believe that no matter what I was looking I had to believe that no matter what I was looking at in front of me (a dusty ranch style house that looked like an abandoned outpost), this could be my dream house.

I kept reassuring myself that it could happen even though I had no idea how that would be possible unless I completely rebuilt the house.

Then I let it just sort of appear as I kept staring at the house.

Staring as a big part of having the vision come to you.

It took many years, but I’m very excited to come down the driveway each day.

paint and lime wash were absolutely transformational for the exterior renovation.

As we play around the house, or drink coffee outside, I look at the house fondly and appreciate the beauty and how it serves us.

Changing your beliefs we’ll set off a chain reaction for beautiful things to come.
Comment REWIRE and I’ll send it to you. I decided Comment REWIRE and I’ll send it to you.

I decided it was time to focus on my health so I started exercising and by week 3 I was quitting-this is from someone who used to be in the military and loves fitness.

Being a mom is different!

I decided to start with mindset. I did a specific technique and weight loss started and just got easier.

Being healthy became automatic.

I didn’t need more hours in the day and it wasn’t another job to add to my list.
I started this window treatment transformation yea I started this window treatment transformation years ago and I’ve been avoiding this part ever since.

I finally ordered this curtain rod from the same company in a different size, but the color ended up being the wrong “gold/brass” tone.

Then I ordered these curtains and the color is not at all how I expected. I was thinking fresh spring and these have a dustier tone. Gorgeous just not the same vibe I had imagined.

It’s taking imperfect action that gives you clarity.

I could scroll until the cows came home but I just had to start with something physical I could look at and decide if it was a go or not.

Tell me what you think in the comments! I’llsend you all the details of this project.
This summer I took a break from keeping up with my This summer I took a break from keeping up with my own high expectations and then a newsletter that I write in the margins of my life ended up on a list with authors I’ve admired for years.

Coincidence?

“Top 100 Rising in Faith and Spirituality,” on Substack.
For a hot second I was a list with the author of Eat, Pray, Love! What!

I have to constantly retrain my mind to know that good things happen no matter what. I don’t have to toil to have what I want.

Yes, we have to signal to the world what we want to attract but it doesn’t have to feel like a burden.

We create the reality we experience.

What would you allow yourself to receive if you believed that you were allowed to rest?
