What do you think of all this apocalyptic hype? We’ve been into zombies! Loving The Walking Dead TV show on AMC! While reading World War Z over Chris’ shoulder (also just watched the movie this weekend), I learned that in an end-of-the world Zombie attack, the white-collar workers (other than virologists) actually fell to the bottom of the ladder and the skilled tradespeople rose to the top. Think construction workers, soldiers and electricians versus bankers and technology professionals.
Some survival skills that you and I might have:
- sewing
- cooking
- girl scout skilz
- self-defense (years of Tae-Kwon-Do)
- military planning/strategic training
- weapons training (guns etc)
Stuff I could learn that would come in handy:
- hunting
- growing food
- triage first aid skills
- living off the land
- land navigation
At dinner, Chris, his sister, Mattie and I played a game: If there were to be a situation where we had to run out of the house right now, what ONE item would you take. One person said laptop, another said water bottle…and another person said Charlie (our dog).
What would you take with you? What survival skills do you have? What do you consider to be the MOST valuable skill and single item?
