There is a new book out called Minimalist Parenting. I’m not a parent but the idea of minimalist living outside a material sense sounds appealing. What if you could do a really good job doing less everywhere? What would you do with all the extra time, energy and motivation left over? Would it still be “giving it your all” if it was less? Shortcuts are great. Try applying the concept to your relationships!
I can relate to this in a husband/wife relationship. I could spend all day cooking etc. for Chris but as long as there is food available (pretty much anything healthy), he’s happy. I’ll take a day or two a week preparing a more complex meal. Really it’s about working smarter not harder. Make sure the basics are met, spend a little extra time presenting an improved classic every once in a while and voila: Minimalist living. Instead of spinning your wheels, hit up the fundamentals and save the rest of your time and efforts on things to nurture YOURSELF! A happier YOU is a happier everyone else.
