Feminists and Wives

March 19, 2013 · In: ROMANCE, Uncategorized

Howard_Chandler_Christy_-_Gee_I_wish_I_were_a_Man,_I'd_Join_the_Navy_-_Google_Art_Project-1

So, I was an officer in the U.S. Navy.  I kind of enjoyed being able to sternly raise my voice if I needed my division of all-male technicians to meet a weapons maintenance deadline.  I enjoyed the power to take away their liberty (free time) if I found them sleeping when they were supposed to be working.  I could always argue my lawyer-like point of view with the Captain or Admiral and get results.

The few times my “military side” has shown through in my relationship with Chris have not ended well for me.  I end up not getting what I want, I’m crying and he is upset with me.  The best way to assert my needs in this domain is with a gentle tone and a sense of trust/dependence on him to satisfy the needs.  Presto:  new piece of furniture or he starts scooping the yard on a regular basis.

Generally speaking (no pun intended), if you are a woman, want to be payed equally, have equal opportunity (except in the case of submarines but that may come as well) and literally fight for what you believe in:  Join the military.  I did.  If you want to have a husband who starts your car for you on cold mornings, accompanies you to medical appointments and buys you romantic gifts you could benifit from following a couple of simple guidelines.  Oh, and if you’re married AND in the military-leave work at work.  The home is no place for war games.  🙂

As a sidenote, I did get results when I used a more “feminine” (while still professional/no cleavage here) approach to getting what I wanted in the military.  Men are the same whether at home or work when it comes to how they tick.  They want to please a pleasant female who trusts they can get the job done.  Wait…I think that’s what everyone wants.

Agree or disagree?

If you disagree, I really want to hear why.  Also, if you disagree, but have interests in anthropology/psychology, would you ever consider trying the above suggestion to see what kinds of results you get?

I couldn’t agree more with this. All most men are looking for is a loving woman that speaks sweetly to him. It’s really that simple. Feel free to ball-bust to your heart’s content outside the home. Scale that ladder. Make those millions. But when you are at home with your husband, be attentive to and anticipate his needs. Maintain your appearance, be sexually available, do nice things for him. If you won’t somebody else will.

This is for my overachievers!

Once I realized what was going on underneath all of the over planning and prevention, I found a way to relax more.

Comment read and I’ll send it to you.
I had to believe that no matter what I was looking I had to believe that no matter what I was looking at in front of me (a dusty ranch style house that looked like an abandoned outpost), this could be my dream house.

I kept reassuring myself that it could happen even though I had no idea how that would be possible unless I completely rebuilt the house.

Then I let it just sort of appear as I kept staring at the house.

Staring as a big part of having the vision come to you.

It took many years, but I’m very excited to come down the driveway each day.

paint and lime wash were absolutely transformational for the exterior renovation.

As we play around the house, or drink coffee outside, I look at the house fondly and appreciate the beauty and how it serves us.

Changing your beliefs we’ll set off a chain reaction for beautiful things to come.

I decided it was time to focus on my health so I started exercising and by week 3 I was quitting-this is from someone who used to be in the military and loves fitness.

Being a mom is different!

I decided to start with mindset. I did a specific technique and weight loss started and just got easier.

Being healthy became automatic.

I didn’t need more hours in the day and it wasn’t another job to add to my list.
I started this window treatment transformation yea I started this window treatment transformation years ago and I’ve been avoiding this part ever since.

I finally ordered this curtain rod from the same company in a different size, but the color ended up being the wrong “gold/brass” tone.

Then I ordered these curtains and the color is not at all how I expected. I was thinking fresh spring and these have a dustier tone. Gorgeous just not the same vibe I had imagined.

It’s taking imperfect action that gives you clarity.

I could scroll until the cows came home but I just had to start with something physical I could look at and decide if it was a go or not.

Tell me what you think in the comments! I’llsend you all the details of this project.
This summer I took a break from keeping up with my This summer I took a break from keeping up with my own high expectations and then a newsletter that I write in the margins of my life ended up on a list with authors I’ve admired for years.

Coincidence?

“Top 100 Rising in Faith and Spirituality,” on Substack.
For a hot second I was a list with the author of Eat, Pray, Love! What!

I have to constantly retrain my mind to know that good things happen no matter what. I don’t have to toil to have what I want.

Yes, we have to signal to the world what we want to attract but it doesn’t have to feel like a burden.

We create the reality we experience.

What would you allow yourself to receive if you believed that you were allowed to rest?
