I read a quote somewhere recently like, “If there is something keeping you from being perfectly happy, then change it.” Do you ever get that feeling that there is something nagging at your good mood but you just brush it off?
What if you took a moment to…
1. identify it
2. confront it
Sometimes it’s just the fact that I have a load of laundry sitting in the dryer…for the third day in a row. “JUST go fold them so you can perfectly enjoy your dog walk or yoga class!”
My little procrastinations weigh me down a bit and I’ve been working on getting them out of the way of being perfectly happy.
I’ve started the mornings with making a short list of one or two quick things I could do that would clear my day for being perfectly happy. I literally tell myself that if I get these couple of things done, the day has unlimited happy potential!
Today I have:
1. Finally pot that plant!
2. Finally really learn what iCloud backup is all about.
It makes it go from to-do/chores to golden ticket. I could do this or I could learn how to let that laundry in the dryer go for another day or two. Hey, there are a million solutions for anything.
I prefer a cookoo OCD checklist kind of approach. The hippie in me lives in the kitchen and sneaks quinoa into our breakfast cereal.

I totally relate to that feeling! I sometimes just feel.. there’s a reason I’m not happy but I can’t figure out why. It’s almost always work that I need to do! But yes. once I confront it I feel a whole lot better.

Totally. Sometimes it really takes me a while to pinpoint it…especially with my pregnant memory now! 🙂 Then I just have to take a minute so that I can recall it and address it! Boom. Easy fix. 🙂

I try to do this sometimes, and yes, it works for me. But I’ve never had a problem with leaving laundry in the dryer. If I can’t see it, it doesn’t exist 😉 I like the OCD making lists approach, it’s a good one!
Christina Warren says
Oh that laundry…. 😉 I must say, my husband goes through a LOT more than me! 🙂 He’d kill me for saying that! So, I’ve recently started doing it every other day b/c I was doing like a full 2 days of laundry every week! Lists make life wonderful for me!

When you figure out iCloud, let me know! haha
Christina Warren says
LOL-Macy, this may have turned into a week-long endeavor! I dove in deep! If I get a good enough grasp on it, I’ll do a post! 🙂

this definitely makes sense. knowing I have a million things to do is stressful so if I would just DO the things and check them off my list, I will just feel instantly lighter!
Christina Warren says
It’s totally magic! I have this really pretty Rifle Paper Company calendar with my list on it and that makes it a lot nicer too. 🙂
Becca Dorr says
I’m definitely a list maker. If I don’t get some things done, I feel STRESSED.
Christina Warren says
Totally. I try to also give myself a day here and there where I play hookie from the list and only eat out! That recharges me!
Rowena @ rolala loves says
YES! It’s crazy how minor things can sometimes keep us from happiness. I love how you start your day with a list to clear your day. I find that making the bed is a must for me and if I don’t it just irks me.

Thank you, Rowena! Oh I’m one of those sometimes-bed-makers! Our bed can be tousled but the bathroom better be spotless! lol

Love this 🙂
Christina Warren says
Thanks! I’m addicted…to checklists! AH!!!

Love this concept and mindset… and I seriously need to take a page out of your book of motivation! I am a total procrastinator and yet I don’t know why, because I always feel SO much better when I’m accomplishing my goals. I am getting a bit better though and I’m a list maker, too. They seriously help me stay focused!!
Christina Warren says
🙂 Hey, we all procrastinate. There are just some things that are so sticky, right? Some days I really only have it in me to do ONE thing and other days get lots of things….those are donut days lol.
Meg @Life, Love and The Webers says
I always feel better when the beds are made and the kitchen is clean. It’s like an OCD balm for my soul.
Christina Warren says
Balm is right! I do have those days when things fall to the way side…then I recharge with greater fervor! I think I may start this bed making routine!
Kristen @ Treats and Travels says
That photograph of your flowers is absolutely gorgeous, and I am the same way. There are some days when I feel annoyed or frustrated and I can’t figure out why. When I stop to really think about it, I can usually pin point where the bounds of frustration are actually coming from!
Christina Warren says
Thank you so much, Kristen! I know, I have to slow down to figure it out sometimes and then motivate myself to do that thingy! 🙂
