Makeup For Working Out

February 19, 2014 · In: Beauty, LIFESTYLE, Uncategorized

yoga mat

When do you take your face off? I had a roommate in Newport, RI, in my early twenties, who would NEVER go makeup free, even around me. She would take a nightly bath and make up her face afterwards just to watch TV with me. Wouldn’t it be cool to think she was doing it to impress me? Not really. She said that she had rosacia and never went without makeup. She used Bare Minerals and always looked beautiful to me. She was the kind of girl who always had fresh lipstick on. I MAY reapply once during the day. May.

I’m always so impressed when I see people at work out classes or on hikes who have full makeup on and cute hair. So when I went for a hike with friends a couple of weekends ago, I totally did some light makeup and threw on some earrings. I felt so great! I even liked my little outfit, belly and all. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I was totally blown away by the hotties at my prenatal yoga class that I started wearing makeup to class too!

My “workout” makeup doesn’t include liquid foundation but it does include a bit of concealer, blush, brow powder and mascara at the least. Maybe a bit of powder and light lipstick.

Does my husband notice? Not sure. But, I have been feeling so much better.

P.S. I’ve been doing yoga in our dining room lately because my favorite teacher does AWESOME online classes. It’s only $15 per month! The only drawback? Smelling the aroma of bacon from breakfast sometimes while I’m in side plank.

Ah, mascara…my gateway makeup drug… I remember when my friend taught me to curl my lashes and wear mascara. I was hooked!!! Then came the rest. I have to say though, it wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I started wearing powder or foundation. I’m impressed you stayed so pure!!!! Awesome! Thanks for stopping by!

Totally-photographs! When I worked on a Navy warship I didn’t wear makeup but when I worked in an office (on land) I totally wore makeup in my uniform! The grocery store clerks probably know me as a dumpy housewife-I always walk in sweats early before I shower! They always ask me what I just did to work out…sometimes the answer is…walked here!

I wear makeup to races because you know, photo ops. I wear BB cream, a mineral foundation on top, lip gloss, and waterproof mascara.

OMG! So cool-I’ve never worn makeup to a race but that is awesome. I surely will for the next one! I remember my mom giving me BB cream before it was cool in the states and it was awesome…then I ran out and never picked it up again. I’ll take any brand suggestions!

i like the Avon BB cream. I know purists will say it’s really only a tinted moisturizer, but it works for me. I’ve tried authentic BB creams but I’m not a huge fan.

I lovvve this post! I laughed to myself because I thought I was the only one that wore makeup to workout. It’s not that I want to look like a diva in the gym but I always work out at the end of the day…that way, if my face runs off then it’s fine because I’ll shower afterwards anyways and I’ll just be done for the day. Thanks so so sooo much for the support and encouragement you’ve given me! It means a lot and I’m glad we got to connect in some strange way in the middle of the world internet world. As far as the post-grad. plans post goes…I’m doing it soon. I’m trying to think about how I want to approach writing it. I’m still actively seeking a job so I don’t want to put too much out there or whine/complain.

That is awesome, Thien! Thanks! When I used to work and then workout in the evening, it was totally nice to just end the makeup day that way! I love the connection too! It goes both ways! I am curious to see what you are up to with work!! I know that I could never have felt comfortable having this blog when I was in the working world so I completely understand!

I like to wear at least a little makeup when I’m going to be around people other than my family… but when I workout I get SO red it’s kind of pointless. haha. Plus I sweat most of it off! I’m not like you’re roommate though… if you’re around me long enough you’ll see the real me, dark circles, zits, and all. 😉 Your at home yoga class sounds quite interesting… I love yoga, it’s so calming!

LOL, aweseome, Abby. I barely sweat! Crazy. I think that jean goes hand in hand with the no body hair gene. 🙂 Oh yes, come over for some bacon yoga at my house but only if you’re wearing your false lashes! lol

LOL!! That’s so funny about your old roommate!! I go makeup free as much as I can! Also, I do yoga in my room all the time, what are the online classes you do? I just buy DVD’s but I’m curious because $15/month is a deal! Also non-related bu, P.S. I’ve caught up on The Bachelor and not sure how I feel about Claire….grrr……maybe my cat claws are coming out. lol!

Woah, Nelly, you said it! Claire gives me the willies! She is like a crazy-hot-mess! I do Yoga Works. Yoga Works is a very nicely done “chain” of studios. I’m not sure how far they spread (west coast for now or big cities only?) Their studios are very nice and the teachers are wonderful-I LOVE Patti Quintaro. I think you can get a free online trial for at least 2 weeks if you want to try it! They do a nice job of organizing “journeys” (to handstands, prenatal etc.) .Soon, I’ll be in full drag-face doing yoga in my kitchen LOL!

Bahahah That IS the best-to be comfortable. I AM tending to be more into my appearance even around Chris! I think part of it has to do with feeling “bigger/pregnant.” I’m sure it will all revert once the baby comes! Then it will be back to unibrows and mustaches (for me). ha!
