Shlumpadinka

January 15, 2014 · In: BABY, Motherhood, Uncategorized

Years ago I went over to a friend’s house some time in the afternoon on a weekday and she answered the door in sweats. She had recently become a stay-at-home-wife and told me she was turning into a shlumpadinka. She was less embarrassed about her outfit/non-bathed appearance than appalled that I had no idea what she was referring to.

From weeks 9-14 of pregnancy, I was a shlumpa. I had heard of this stage but never thought it would happen to me-the girl with the daytime energy of an annoying hummingbird. I barely made it downstairs in the morning to eat breakfast, dragged my body and dog on a walk and then plopped on the sofa for the remainder of the day.

Outfit staples and position of choice.

These shoes were the only clothing item purchased for the first couple months of pregnancy.

The only stuff that sounded good was…

So now that my energy’s back, I’m putting forth the effort.

…until the post-baby shlumpadinka phase. Cheer me on!

I tell ya, I’m 8 years into having kids and there are days I still shlumpadinka! But I’m happy you’re currently out of it and back out in the real world! However, now that you posted pictures of donuts I’m mentally battling the urge to get some for myself! Thanks for that… Haha

LOL-thank you, Krista! Donuts have always been my downfall but now I feel like I need them like water. There is one shop in Santa Monica that I am into and I’ve been there twice during pregnancy….we’ll see how the rest of this plays out!

One day, I decided to stop letting my circumstances determine the outcomes that I wanted.

Here he was mother to four, barely sleeping at night, feeling Uncomfortable in my body and sluggish.

Dare I say it but I felt old too.

Then I just decided that, even though I was in this stage of life, I was still going to achieve my goals and have a body that I wanted.

I changed who I was on the inside.

I started telling myself that I was vibrant and beautiful and full of energy and life.
