Pasta

July 22, 2021 · In: Recipes, Uncategorized

The phone rang as I was trying to fall asleep around 10:30 one night during grad school in my late twenties and it was my best friend from college, Laura. She had called me earlier, super excited about the great ticket fares to Italy. I agreed that if she found us amazing tickets, I would go with her and she did! We lived in different states at the time and each of us used miles for a free ticket to New York. We met there and took a $500 flight to Milan, Italy!

Laura was incredible in planning this trip for us. We took the train to Cincque Terre and adventured through a couple of the towns. Then we went to Florence and stayed at Mama Rabatti’s flat. We rented a room from her and it was glorious. Right in the city where we could visit museum and cafes.

One day we went to the Tuscan countryside for an authentic pasta making and cooking class. The 100 plus year old farmhouse was out of a storybook. Wisteria grew all along one of the stone walls.

In the basement we learned to make pasta from scratch and up in the kitchen, Christina, our cook, prepared it all and showed us how. I watched her make this pasta sauce. I was bewildered by how simple and how it was the most delicious spaghetti I had ever had (I am part Italiano). I’ve made it now so many times and it dawned on me that you would LOVE this too!

Italian Pasta REcipe

Make this to your taste! Adjust the amount of ingredients for your family’s liking. Err on more olive oil in my opinion!

1-2 small clamshells of grape tomatoes washed and sliced in half

4-8 cloves of garlic peeled and minced

1/3 cup good olive oil

1 tbsp kosher salt

1 package of spaghetti cooked and drained

Optional fresh basil on top at the end

Boil pasta water. Pour olive oil in large skillet. Add garlic and then tomatoes. Cook pasta. Simmer until tomatoes look tender. Add salt then hot drained pasta. mix and serve on a plate with salad that’s been drizzled with olive oil and thick balsamic vinegar.

I don’t know why I’ve always been like this, but m I don’t know why I’ve always been like this, but my brain is constantly looking for small ways to make one thing better.

Add a skylight.

Adjust the tone of the stone.

Shape a plant so that it feels whimsical like an artist lives here.

I don’t ever see my life as bad.

I simply see everything as an opportunity to build and grow.

I used to think I was wanting “everything to just be done,” but now I realize I’m along for the experience.

The satisfaction of figuring out a space or making it fit who we are today.

🚩Save & Share this Feminine Cycle Synching Schedul 🚩Save & Share this Feminine Cycle Synching Schedule: thriving in your energy through the 🌕

This has been so helpful to me-especially in my 40s.

Our energy shifts, our hormones change… and giving myself permission to embrace the phase has been a game-changer. 💫

Here’s what cycle syncing looks like for me as a creative mom to 4.
It’s not about perfection. It’s about permission.

🌕 The Four Phases:

🩸 Menstrual (Days 1–5)
→ Rest. Reflect. Retreat.
💡 What I do: Ditch the to-do list, cuddle with my kids, simplify meals, journal/podcasts, quiet everything down.

🌱 Follicular (Days 6–13)
→ Fresh energy. Planning. Creativity.
💡 What I do: Try a new recipe, organize a closet, plan/brainstorm work projects, create new art.

🌕 Ovulatory (Days 14–17)
→ Peak connection. Communication. Confidence.
💡 What I do: Connect with people I love, plan family outings, batch errands, date night, be out in the world.

🍂 Luteal (Days 18–28)
→ Deep work. Discernment. Declutter.
💡 What I do: Clean, prep, say no to extras, create cozy spaces, handle details before I dip.

In perimenopause or menopause your body also follows an energetic flow - monthly, seasonally, and emotionally. Trust your internal calendar more than the world’s. ✨

💌 Save this for the week your energy dips so you remember it’s not you. It’s your phase.

So I was happy in my life and grateful to be a mom So I was happy in my life and grateful to be a mom of 4 (with a double rainbow baby in my 40s)

But I also felt super uncomfortable in my body.

I started feeling ashamed of how I wasn’t able to enjoy vacations because I just felt so sluggish and heavy.

Then I decided I was done with all this.

I changed my mindset and my actual identity.

After 2 weeks of a little discomfort as I adjusted to my new identity and my body caught up, everything got easier every day.

Healthy habits became automatic.

I went for my daily walk without ever having to negotiate with myself.

I feel amazing in my jeans. I have more energy and my daily quality of life is so much better.

I went from forcing will power with nothing workin I went from forcing will power with nothing working to losing over 20 pounds as a 45 year old mom of 4 (youngest is a toddler).

I was still waking most nights with a little one but I needed a change in my health.

I felt not only tired but just so uncomfortable in my body.
I tried “feeling grateful” for what my body had done but I also wanted to feel great in a pair of jeans.

Then I tried something different.

I started imagining how amazing it would feel to be in those great jeans.

I started doing the things a healthy person would do automatically.

It just got easier and more on autopilot every day.
I teach you exactly how to do it.
