My Korean mom once told me she felt so rich! Well, she said “I feel so LICH,” in her adorable accent. She wasn’t referring to money. She said when she thought of her grandkids, it made her feel so rich. She would talk about it over coffee with my Dad in the mornings. That’s something my parents do-they chat about how great something in their lives is and my sister and I would roll our eyes when they would do their “agreement game” all the time.
It’s not just in times of uncertainty, when you need to invest in the things I’m going to share about but it’s the uncertain time when focusing our time and energy on these things brings even more calm, purpose and alignment. You are LICH, friend. I’m going to show you how to get LICHER!
Here are investments that cost little to nothing and will change your life!
Your BODY
Do you exercise more or less when you are stressed? Exercise does MAGICAL things to your body and mind, it’s chemical! I am the first to say that even after years in the military, if I stop exercising regularly and try to get back into it, it takes me a minimum of 3 WEEKS until I feel confident about actually moving my body.
Like the first three weeks, I feel uncomfortable. I get frustrated that it’s so awkward and that I know it’s going to take a bit to get out of that stage. Just remember that you will get there and it IS SO WORTH IT! Your mood, self love, patience and joy will go up exponentially and soon you won’t be able to have a day without it!
Stress can cause me to mindlessly grab an extra few drinks during the week too! Be mindful of what your overall body goal is so that you are doing things daily to get there. It’s a marathon and it’s cumulative!
Family & children
Take time to make nourishing meals. Don’t know where to start? Check out my batch cooking technique.
Teach your kids about their family history. Bring out photo albums.
Create traditions.
Read or learn something together. Play games together.
Share spirituality! Discuss concepts even in times of great despair, there is always hope.
Do something silly! A friend recently said her and her husband jumped into the pool with their clothes on and it delighted their kids so much!
self development
I always have at least 3 self development books I’m reading. HA! Some favorites are The Power of Less, BIG MAGIC (amazing for creative types) and Atomic Habits.
Take time to self assess! Identify any habits that keeps you disconnected from family, self and source!
Goals
Start taking steps toward that goal you’ve had on your list forever! Is there something annoying you want to take off your list or something fun you’d like to accomplish? There are so many things you can accomplish like cleaning out your garage that are totally FREE!
