If you are reading this then you have a goal in mind. What is it? How long has it been swirling in your head?
My mother had a few specific pieces of advice I have recalled and shared often in my life and this is one of them. She said, “Starting is halfway done.”
It sounds so simple because it is but we can often get in the way of our own progress and success. There are 100 “reasons” or excuses as to why you “can’t” get started on a project, dream career, or DIY. Let me tell you though, when you make the decision to go forward and simply BEGIN something, you’re already way ahead of anyone else with the same dream.
So, give yourself a huge pat on the back to start. You are standing out from the crowd of people who say “It would be so great to FILL IN THE BLANK.” You are saying, “It is so great to be FILL IN THE BLANK.”
Want to stand out even more? Then keep at it and don’t stop! Consistency is the next hurdle! This is when you reach the success part. Then, when you hit a wall and it feels like it’s just not going to work out. Keep going. You are going to rise out of that low and stand out yet again. Find more resources, role models and teachers. The reason you are going to succeed is because: You want to and you keep showing up in a consistent way!
See the window treatments in our family room? This seemed over-the-top daunting to me. How high to I hang the curtains when the sets of windows are uneven? What woven shades won’t compete with the stone accent wall on the other side of the room? Do I want them to be functional or beautiful? How much will it cost? I wanted to give up many times but I made a commitment to start and it worked out great! I’ve linked many of the items below for you.
I want to you choose a goal you have.
Write it down.
Write down why you haven’t been able to do it until today.
Tell someone. Heck, get someone to do it with you for support.
Commit to starting TODAY. Find a way to prioritize that thing on a regular basis and stick to it and I want to know about it! Tell me on Instagram!
