Do you ever post something on Facebook and then neurotically check then recheck to see if anyone has “liked” it? I have! A couple of weeks ago I realized how affected I had become by the quantity of “likes” for a photo or article. So, I decided to do something kind of funny.
I stamped a little “LIKE” sign for my bathroom mirror. I had gone too far into the outside validation spectrum danger zone! I think a lot of that comes from spending a lot of my time alone these days in Seattle! Crazy enough, this little note does wonders for my psyche and keeps me focused. My FB anxiety has reduced and I’m seeing it again as just a place to see cool stuff my friends post, cat videos and surprising changes in relationship statuses. I’m also working on checking it less frequently…wish me luck! Dang iPhone!
What kinds of things have YOU done to maintain healthy boundaries with Facebook? What do you think of my mirror “LIKE” button?
